Assistant Professor of Physical Education Teacher Education (Log #20-006)
The Department of Kinesiology and Health at Georgia State University invites applications for a full-time, ten-month, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) starting August 2019.
Position Summary: Applicants will teach courses in the physical education teacher education (PETE) program (undergraduate, masters and doctoral), in the area of teaching methods, models-based instruction, assessment, curriculum, and research on teaching. Additional background in the area of Comprehensive School Physical Activity preferred. This faculty member will: (1) establish and maintain an independent line of research in their area of specialization leading to scholarly publications in refereed journals, presentations at national or international conferences, external grant funding, (2) mentor graduate student research, (3) assist with curriculum development and alignment with state and national standards, accrediting procedures and EdTPA, and (4) supervise student teachers. Service engagement at the department, college, university, community and professional levels is expected.
Required Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate by the time of appointment in the area of Physical Education Teacher Education, or related field from an accredited institution. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience in P-12 settings. Additionally, candidates must have a commitment to working successfully with diverse student populations.
